Bug
OCR fails because thumbs not legible
Issue description
For some PDF documents the thumbnails in all sizes show the wrong characters.
Developer comments
This problem is caused by the PDF using a font which is not embedded. Ghostscript tries to substitute the missing font while converting the PDF but fails. Most likely this can be solved by configuration.
Key to this issue is the ghostscript configuration file FAPIcidfmap. Once the font is declared, the OCR works.
Missing fonts must be substituted. The fonts in the fonts-liberation package mess up the characters in documents using some eastern european scripts. Thus the package msttcorefonts is the better choice, because it displays the characters in the thumbnails correctly.
