Whitelist not working on symmetric association type

Issue description

If an optional field is whitelisted, the whitelist only works if the form field is empty upon loading. If there is an old value, the whitelist will be ineffective instead displaying an empty selection.

Developer comments

This fails to work only if the association type is symmetric.

The root of the bug is, that the respective range is not loaded upon form load, but only when the extended selection is opened.
