Less verbose and quicker checks

Issue description

The checks are very verbose. If a store has a 1 mio topics, the check has at least 3 mio lines. This stems from a few key checks only that ensure that everything is ok in the file system. Improve these to make them less verbose and clear up the whole situation in order to allow further improvement.
