Bug
XMLHttpRequest on main thread again
Developer comments
It feels silly to do this as there is no "its detrimental effects to the end user's experience" per se, just if you don't do it right. I can have terrible user experience with all asynchronous requests, and i can have good user experience with a few synchronous requests. Other decisions are much more important.
The support of PWA forces my hand as the service worker does not respond to synchronous XMLHttpRequests requests, at least in Chromium.
Topincs is now largely free from synchronous requests. Some specialized features of the Form still use it and the administrator interface uses it in a few places. All remaining issues should be handled in case they acutally become a problem, but the admin should not use PWA for his work anyway.
